Discover a natural, low-irritation alternative to waxing with our certified Sugarist, Mya
Sugaring is one of the oldest forms of hair removal, created by the ancient Egyptians. It’s believed Cleopatra herself used it. This method has lasted thousands of years because it’s simple, natural, and extremely gentle on the skin.
WHAT THE PASTE IS MADE OF
Sugar paste is made from just three ingredients:
• Sugar
• Water
• Lemon
No wax, no resins, no additives.
It’s biodegradable, non-toxic, and safe for sensitive skin.
HOW SUGARING WORKS
The paste is applied at body temperature, so there is no risk of burning.
It adheres to hair and dead skin cells only, not live skin.
This gives a gentle exfoliation while removing hair, leaving the skin smoother and softer right away.
THE TECHNIQUE
Sugaring and waxing are removed in different directions:
• Wax is removed against hair growth.
• Sugaring is removed with the direction of hair growth.
Removing hair in its natural direction helps it glide out of the follicle more cleanly, resulting in:
• Less trauma to the skin
• Less irritation
• Fewer ingrown hairs
• Smoother, longer-lasting results
WHY PEOPLE LOVE SUGARING
• Gentle on sensitive or reactive skin
• Natural and eco-friendly (no sticks or strips needed)
• Removes even short hairs effectively
• Can lead to thinner, softer regrowth over time
Sugaring is generally less painful than waxing because the paste doesn’t stick to live skin and is removed with the direction of hair growth. You’ll still feel a quick tug, but most clients say it’s noticeably gentler and more tolerable, even in sensitive areas.
Hair should be at least 1/8 inch long — about the length of a grain of rice.
If you’ve been shaving, this usually means 10–14 days of growth. Longer is okay; if the hair is too short the sugar will not be able to grab it.
Most clients stay smooth for 3–5 weeks, depending on their hair growth cycle. With consistent appointments, hair can grow back finer, softer, and more sparse, which often makes each service easier.
Yes — totally safe. Just know you may feel a little more sensitive. If you’re comfortable, I’m comfortable. A fresh tampon or cup is required.
